Q & A series - wedding wines

Q: Is Chenin Blanc a suitable wine for a seafood based wedding lunch?

A: Yes it is. The River Loire runs through the entire Loire valley in France and that's the birthplace of Chenin Blanc. Lakewater and river seafood are in abundance there.

As the saying goes "What grows together, goes together"

Q: What are pointers to make it suitable?

A: Firstly, the vibrant acid levels from Chenin help to elevate and accentuate the freshness of seafood. Secondly, the naturally waxy and oily textures of Chenin  allow the seafood items to be prepared in several cooking techniques. Lastly but not least, the natural residual sugar content in Chenin helps mitigate and balance spicy and salty accompaniments and sauces which are quite predominant in South East Asian cuisine.
